Well I can stand the notchy shift that has been getting progressively worse any longer and have bitten the bullet and taken it to a gearbox specialist to see if it can be repaired with new syncros.

The solid centre clutch still had plenty of life left in the carbonetic pads and surprisingly minimal wear on the billet steel flywheel and pressure plate considering the hard life at track and sprint events over the past 3 years so they will be resurfaced and checked for clamp pressure before reassembly along with a new spigot and throw out bearings.

Don't know till they pull the box apart and they will let me know the cost as a 2nd hand "good low k " box is $850 Aussie pesos.

Hope to know more later today when I take the FW and clutch back to them.

Picked up the clutch & FW that had been resurfaced, balanced and tested for clamp pressure using the new solid centre 4 button/puk plate (I had been given replacement by another shop due to a failure when it sheared off the rivets holding the spline to the plate in one they had supplied) along with a new spigot and throw out bearing $142.00 so will head off to the box shop today to see if they have found out if it can be repaired or if I need another box.

Was tempted to try a LWFW they had but it would have needed a new/different sized clutch altogether.

When I delivered the FW and clutch they told me that the box only needed syncros and a couple of bearings and will be ready on Monday so hopefully the bill for repairs won't be too damaging to my 2016 racing budget :)

Just back from collecting the car and the bill was $1550.00 which was app $300.00 more than if a 2nd hand box of unknown mileage and condition was used.
Will report how it drives soon.:)
