I use the torque app to help. It can tell me instant MPG and fuel cc/minute. Helps me use less fuel by actually seeing how much fuel I am actually using in real time.

It does annoy me at the amount of fake fuel saving devices and scams there are!

HHO water as fuel
Cheap Piggy Back boxes which just alter the air readings
Magnets and things that strap on the fuel line
Air intake swirlers
Vacuum collapsers
Many additives and potions you put in your fuel and oil!

I'd say it's mainly down to driving style, then car maintenance and finally small gains may be had by using a higher performing oil and or higher octante/better quality fuel!

The scam devices really wind me up as well! Does anyone remember the Plasma spark plugs and how these were supposed to be more efficient?

Aye, the amount of drivers you see who it seems that road events are a complete surprise to them amazes me. For instance the ones on motorways that come up behind someone, brake sharply and THEN pull out and get back up to speed.
