Do cold air intakes work?

theoretically it would have to be a definate yes for a CAI , more so fo a turbo motor

where the problem often is that people think that thats all they have to do to get say another 10bhp.
to get maximum benefit the engine would have to be mapped with the change in mind and the engine has to be able to with the extra air and fuel (which also has to be provided as well)

Agree with Sleeper here. Most standard airboxes flow really well and more than enough for even modest tuning upgrades. I can't justify fitting a high flow filter unless more tuning has been done and the OEM box is not flowing but getting cold air into the intake is always better than sucking in hot engine bay air. When a car is moving though the underbonnet temps drop significantly which is harder to show on a dyno run even with a fan running.

The key is PROPERLY CONFIGURED here! Most expect a bolt on generic part to work wonders and it rarely does on it's own.

Obi San thanks for highlighting those important 2 words :)

Lunchy be careful with all that extra power from the freezing air on the icy roads  ;)
