Do you think it is morally right to avoid mentioning major faults on a car you are part exchanging at a dealer?

Would it depend on the type of fault or how bad a deal you thought you were getting from the dealer?

What about when selling privately? How much detail do you go into about faults and problems.

If I were to sell privately I would most definitely inform the buyer about every single thing I think they need to know and any niggles etc. In fairness I'd generally sort out any issues with the car before a sale anyway unless I was asking book or below meaning that they were getting a deal because of said issues.
Selling to a dealer on the other hand we all know that they do their very best to make as much money off you as physically possible so I'm afraid once I've dropped it off it's their problem then. They have the facilities to put bits and bats right at cost and they can always use a bit of the large amount they've knocked off your part ex or added on to your new car to fix faults
