Well enough is enough! have been waiting patiently (actually not quite true! :embarrest:) for almost 4 months now for my 400BHP MapTun race engine and it is STILL undergoing evaluation before it gets released to me! :sad2:

So yesterday I booked the Beast in for a GT30 Hybrid Turbo, 4 x 650cc fuel injectors, new injectors wiring loom, bespoke turbo intake delivery pipe made 30% bigger out of polished aluminium which will be installed this Thursday and a remap booked for next Tuesday

Currently 321BHP and hoping to see about 335 BHP all being well! will also have them tweak the throttle response as well, especially now that I know this can be done via the remap "thanks Torque Cars for that knowledge by the way!

Running it in is going to be toture too!

When I had an engine built for my old smart I had to do 1000 under 3000rpm (I think it was 3000 any way) it was so dreadful I had to get it out of the way asap so I did 1000 miles in 3 days driving around wales!

If you kept all the bits you took of your car you'd practically have a second car.

Hope you enjoy it when it's done and on the road.

 Once again Mr T9 Man has all the money. When is this party getting thown any how!! Last month you were shopping in Demon Tweeks, this month your lavashing your baby again! :D

What I want to know is when is the T9 party?? :p

(Cant say much, I got a £1400 bill comming my way in May!!)

He's not the only one splashing the cash mate. I've spent around £2000 in the last few months on my BMW. More to come in March as well!

Its bad isn't it. From May 10 till May 11, I would have spent £2500 ish (give or take £100) on my baby, and that is not including cleaning products or even an MOT!! Come to think about it, that was the cost of my 5yo mazda when I bought it!! But if I can get the car from 300 to 420, then the £2500 is worth it, as that is basically the power of the mazda added to my baby!!! :D

Lol @ bbj ^

Just curious cuz it seems alot of work for such a small gain, I would have thought more like 400bhp was acheivable with that set-up?

Great stuff T9. I'm thinking much more is achieveable with the same set-up but only once the new engine is in?

Nearly £3k on the FRS since I bought it in November (was it?)

There isn't a direct way to tweak the throttle response as such...what problems are you having? Lag is it?

Ah fair enough, if it's all getting bolted onto the new engine then thats cool, just seemed alot for so little was all :)

Don't know. Indigo GT (the company that I am using) speciliase in Evo's and have achieved 420 in many Evo's with the upgrades I am getting.

Fuel pump
Larger turbo housing
Modified elbo
Straight through exhaust off the turbo
268 cams
modified air filter
boost controll guage
light weight pullies

The engine can take up to about 450 without any major upgrades. The turbo is set quite low as standards, and can be set to around 1.8 to 2 bar of pressure once the cams are in. Cant put it up that much before hand as it would snap the cams. Its a lot to do with the exhaust air flow aswell. You can set a turbo up to what you like, but if the gasses cant escape, then it is pretty pointless. Hense the enlarged housing and upgraded elbo and straight exhaust.

I recon 420 is quite acheevable. :)

Lol, what can I say BBJ, my baby is just constantly evolving and as her dad it is my duty to see to it that she gets whatever she wants! :)

The 14 BHP is a garage derived conservative gain! I cannot say for sure what the true gain will be until it has been remapped on the RR. Which incidently will be today now and not next Tuesday as they have had a RR cancellation :)

Just gave them a call and it should be all ready by 7 tonight! ;)

Cheers MA, the gain was a conservative estimate from the garage, I don't like to make wild excitable claims and neither do they :)

The throttle response issue was indeed to try and shorten the lag as I felt it could improve a little, but this was with the old TD04 turbo, the GT30rs Hybrid with the right map may well not prove to be a problem at all.

I have no idea what to expect really, but I will be leaving to collect the old girl about 6 as it will be ready by 7, so I will find out soon enough :)

WOW, for a 14bhp gain how much is that lot costing????

It should be more than the quoted 14bhp Badger but they don't want to build my hopes up with any wild claims. Total cost for the improvement with the dreaded VAT will be £3596.00. If the 400BHP race engine ever materialises, I would be parting company with £7800 which would come with this particular turbo any way! ;)

Most of the money has been spent on suspension and the rest on styling and changing the look of the car. It'll be worth it when I'm done. :D

Well my baby is back and all I can say is OMG! the old girl is producing 396BHP with 437NM of torque!:bigsmile: Her Indoors was a little worried about me, as she expected me home ages ago! but I had to tickle the throttle on the way home, and to all the speeding PC's out there - I am very sorry and at the same time, I just don't care!

Celebrating with a Curry and a bottle of Champagne tonight, also will treat my self to a couple of extra hours sleep in the morning with my lady (The Boss's Perogative) and will let the men go home early tomorrow afternoon! I am so happy!

Big thank you to, TN, MA, Prince, and BBJ for their advice, help and encouragement which steered me towards this epic result, Mucho thanks Guys!

What an epic result indeed! Letting the lads go early and everything all that speed must have mushed your brain lol.

:lol: The lads know it's only temporary insanity! Apparently i'm quite ruthless but very fair with it !!!! :D Curry has just arrived now so will spend some quality time with my lady now, as she has been very patient with me! Bless Her!! :)

Glad you had a good result. I bet she will shock a few people now! How is she sounding?? Well in mate, when is the party!!!!! lol :p

Had me a curry last night as well. Got to a target stone with my fitness so celebrated with a curry, first one this year might I add, (Chicken buriarni with a jalfrazi sauce, Onion bajhi, popodom and garlic Nham) didn't eat it all my self, that does me and the misses.

What you have?

Chicken Tikka Jalfrezi, Keema Rice and a Bombay Aloo, utterly delicious :)

Great news and impressive figures mate.
Let the lads finish early? When you get the Maptun engine you'll be giving them a week off.:lol::lol::lol::lol:

 A week off :amazed: unpaid of course!

To tell you the truth TN I am having some serious reservations now about the MapTun engine! Never in my wildest dreams did I think that the car could produce this much power, so to part with nearly 8K for a few more horses makes no sense at all, even for me :(

The other important factor to consider here, is that I am not too far away from the limit of the Auto gearbox! So I think commonsense must prevail and I'm going to take my name of the engine buyers list. No deposit was paid to them, just had to acknowledge an interest in it that's all.

So are you looking into uprating the gearbox now then T9?
BBJ can't beat a good Jalfrezi.

Well TN I have made some enquires about this! there isn't currently an auto box that I can upgrade to either with Saab or with GM, neither can I have it modified with stronger parts to allow it too take more power :(

Isn't there anyone that would experiment for you?

A possibility TN! i'm going to do some more research on the internet tomorrow and see if I can find an autobox specialist that could take on the project
Have no intentions of losing my baby for a few weeks while the work is being undertaken, so if I find the right company then I will buy another gearbox and have it shipped to them ;)

What a result mate! Good work. You'll be getting more trophies in the summer!

Cheers Prince, I dearly would love to win the Saab Nationals again this year but there is some very stiff competition out there :)

Well the latest turbo and modifications installed into the Beast have given me more than a fighting chance this year! Many thanks to the skilled mechanics who made this all happen

And the valued advice of my fellow TC'ers off course!
