Zetec or 2.0 Sierra??

Hey thanx waynne for ur help. Which one is better tho. im all new at cars and modifying, (but i do have a bit of a spcialising in audio). so im not really good at engines and once ive changed an engine what do i have to change to support the power etc etc.
So yeah which one is better Zetec or 2.0 Sierra??

Sorry to delay in replying to you - I never noticed this thread. Both are good engines the Zetec is more modern and efficient but there are quite a few mods and specialists around for the Sierra. The 2.0 engine is a favourite with Kit Car makers. It is hard to say which is better - it depends what you want from the engine.

For tuneability and insurance friendlyness, neither. One of the best engines I have ever tuned and run was a 1.6 pinto (Found in Sierra and Capri 1.6's).
If you fit a 2.0GT Cortina Carb, exhaust and a standard 2.0 camshaft they go like stink. 8) With the added bonus that you can get away with not telling you insurance company as all of you engine parts meet the manufacturers specifications and has a ford part number (just not for that engine). Aslo it is a very cheap tuning session. Get the carb from a breakers, a new cam kit (inc lifters, springs etc) for roughly £50-£60 and you can get the exhaust from your local quickfit for a shite site less than a janspeed system. Ok you may have to cut up and re weld the exhaust to make it fit the sierra but nevermind.
I used to have a 1.6 Capri with this done to it and it was quicker than my Dad's 2.0i Sierra.

Oh yeah, the camshaft and carb are fitted with no other mod's needed.
