volvo 850 t-5

Yes lads, iv recently bought two volvo 850's, the 2.3 turbo t5's. One isnt going at all but the other is starting and driving alright. The one that's driving is mixing oil into water and/or water into the oil. all i know is the rad is full of scum and so is the sump. The bloke i bought them off assures me that its the rad/oil cooler that's the problem and not the head gasket.
Just wondering if anybody knew anything about these beasts( cuz she is a beast alright!) and if the rad/oil cooler is a common fault or am i looking at a £300 bill for a head skim? :blink:

would look into the rad as i have had one before like it
but also head gaskets as well i would go tthe cheaper rad way first and get it pressure tested
