Hi mate,

Welcome to the site. Personally I would get an engine trasnplant up to the 2L and then think about the exhaust, intake, remap and fuel injectors. The main areas that will get you some more stallions under your foot. Should be good for about an uplift oof 100 bhp plus.

You'll be lucky to boost the power on a 1.6 90bhp to 110 for less than us$1500. As has been said an engine swap is the best way to go you'll end up spending a fortune for very little.

If you must mod it then do the suspension and brakes and enjoy the handling.

lot of work converting form petrol to diesel. that and dont think performance diesels have really taken off on the other side
