tuning 1400cc 8v?

Can anybody help me please?
i am planning to tune my mk2 astra 1400cc engine(believe same as nova 1.4 sr) but dont know where to start. I'm thinking of swaping carb for a webber and adding air filter + exhaust system but not sure how much/what can be done with 1400 lump?

Any ideas welcomed.

Drop a 2litre Cav engine in, with the time it takes to set up webbers correctly you should do the engine swap

Make sure you do the conversion well as many insurers insist on an engineers report when you do this sort of thing and it wont look good if you have bodged the thing together to get it on the road!

Thanks for the advice, but i am going to stay away from 2ltr conversion for the time being.(my missus cant get insured on a 2ltr yet!!!)
I am going to add a webber carb and filter, new manifold + free flow exhaust system. not expecting much bhp gains from this but better throttle responce and a better engine note.
Then im looking to add a fast road cam and some head work done- anyone got any ideas what to do with the head. Any head tuner's out there?
