Hi all, my names Tom. I have pondered on the prospect of removing the DPF on my 2007 Renault Laguna. I have contacted several companies who have quoted me between £300 & £750 for removing the DPF from the ECU and I then have to remove the unit from the car or I remove it then limp the car at 30 to the remap place and then walk home as they will have to keep it for a few hours while they play.

Any way back to the point.

I would like to attempt to remove the DPF myself from the ECU and then physically remove the unit from the exhaust system. I'm quite prepared for the possible repercussions of what I'm proposing and am willing to deal with a dead car if all goes wrong.

Would any one on here, happen to have experience in removing the DPF from the ECU and how I would go about doing it.

I have the cable but would like to know what software people would recommend as you lot have loads more experience than me.

I look forward to your responses and thanks in advance.

Tom

Greetings and a Warm Welcome to our TorqueCars Forum my Friend! :)

I am unable to help you with your question directly, but hopefully somebody can point you in the right direction for the knowledge that you seek!

Good luck buddy! :)

hey and welcome to the site mate.
what cable do you have? you may find it can read the ecu but not write to it
the DPF values and the code that starts the regen cycle would all need to be coded out. have you already had your car remapped?
if not then this might be a good time to get it done, that way you know its done correctly and your getting the benifit of the remap as well.

as for removing the DPF. the MOT test is to include looking for the emissions equipment . for this reason id say remove the dpf, cut it open, remove the guts and weld it back up. that way it you still have the DPF for the visual inspection.

Thank you both for replying.

I currently have a Galletto 1260 cable. I currently have the stock ECU map and have been reluctant to take it to a specialist to do it due to the cost factor. I want to give it a shot myself. As for the DPF. I plan to rip the unit out and gut it so it looks the part but that's it.

I want to map out/ remove the entry's which are not required. I'm not worried about and performance tweaks as they can be done at a later date as and when I'm confident enough.

What I'm looking for is guidance on the best software to do the mod.

Thanks

your cables pbviolus the right type if its got the map off. as for the mapping to get rid i cant help you there sorry. id rather pay to have it done properly.

hope someone is able to help you

Same here. There are so many people who have done this already and I'm hopping I can find 1 that can copy the map from there ECU and send it to me to compare against mine.

Lets just hope I can.
