Rear Diff Ratios

Here is the boring story!!

I was looking for a diff as I wa told that is what I needed to replace on my BMW, after buying one and going to get it fixed, I was then told that it was my rear wheel bearing that was the problem! :blink:

I now have a spare diff! lol......however I was just wondering, how can I tell what the ratio is?

I have a BMW 318is T Reg 2 door coupe E36 .......any help would be superb as I would like to sell it with as much info as possible.

Your standard diff ratio for a 318is E36 is 3.38:1

Update: 3:45:1 was for the earlier M42 engine, the above is for the M44 '96 onwards.

4.44:1 for the Auto E36 318is.
