Hi all. Names Chris and looking forward to more viewings to this site.
Planning to buy n keep a custom <--- haven't decided on the car model car yet... ;) I'm weighing up the odds n bits on expenses and time management. Don't want to land up with a half completed tin can that would compliment a steel junk yard.
Well...
Until then.. Have a gr8 day all! =)

Hi and welcome to the siite mate. Are you thinking small and powerful or large and full of muscle?

Thank you...
Most likely a small package with a bang!... yet a clean look n style to it too.
Possibly
944 porsche makeover. Though i'm rather hesitant on this one. As much as i have always wanted to have this project in my hands, my concerns are the limitations to the upgrading and finding the parts nessesary.
Really not sure... but i'm still looking around to find a gr8 deal on purchase. The s2's here are rare and the s1's are what i am trying to avoid.

Hi and welcome from me. 944 S2 is a great car with 211bhp as standard. Not a lot you can do to it to get some extra horses though as Porsche did a pretty good job originally. If you get the turbo version then the sky's the limit. My 330bhp is quite easily achievable and then you can really throw some money at it and change the turbo's, MAF and other stuff to get 400 - 600 bhp. Then there's always nitrous on top :amuse:

Let us know if you want more info, I can point you in the right direction on where to source parts. Take a look at my gallery to see some of the mods done.

Hope that helps

Andy

Hi Chris and thanks for the appreciation. 944s are great cars and I wanted one when they were new back in the 80's and I was just a wee teenager. I was in a position to get one from a friend I made through the Porsche club I belong to last year, he owns a specialist Porsche garage and had (and still has) around 25 cars in various states of disrepair there. My one is a rare Turbo SE version and had been stood in storage for 4 years but Jon felt it was too good to break up. The sills were rotten and all the fuel and brake lines needed replacing. I've spent about £10k on the car including initial purchase and I run it on classic car insurance with an agreed value of £12k now. It's not concourse condition but starts every time and is a blast to drive on a sunny Sunday morning :amuse: All the mods and restoration I've done is listed in my thread in the Porsche section http://www.torquecars.com/forums/f29/my-944-upgrades-10053/. Another article that Waynne wrote is here http://www.torquecars.com/porsche/944-tuning.php You may recognise the car in the pictures:bigsmile:

Hope that's inspired you to get one, they are great value and going up in value all the time.

Andy

Hahahahhaaa! I see a repeat in history!... I too, being in my teens always wanted a 944...

I shall do it... though... just won't rush into it...
I am still on the hunt for a decent 944 in at least an acceptable condition to work with.
The 3.0l - 2.7l are 'scarce' 'scarse'<-- did i spell that right?.. Grrrr! 'not too many around'... hehehhe... anyway, and generally not in gr8 shape.
Sorry, it's one of those Mondays =P
The 2.5's are easier to get a hold of, but again... in very poor condition and not too enthusiastic o settling with a 2.5er

I am hoping to find my 944 T soon and before march.
Well, either way, which ever i get my hands on, it's gonna have to be soon! =)
I've prepared a graveyard room "garage", for the old heap 944 to be modded, restored n work upon. This way it won't get in the way of my regular life and i won't loose stuff... now to just find one of em 944's to sit in there.

I followed your links and am impressed. =)
Thank you AA944. Big help. I take all advice and comments as a learning step and interest.

and thank you too Zed Head

Hi Chris. Really glad you're going to have a go at saving another 944 to be enjoyed by all, can't imagine South Africa was a great market for Porsche so should be rare I guess. Start up a project thread for us to follow. Shame you're not closer Jon's got a silver 220 turbo that's just right for saving and restoring, wonder what the shipping costs are to get it over to you? :blink1::confused:
When you get one I can put you in contact with Jon if you like, he is a 944 guru in this country and he ships parts out all over the world so if you need anything just send me a PM and ask:bigsmile:

MA cheers for the appreciation, hope I did everything in the right order. Sorted car out mechanically first then started bolting on the performance bits. Still got around another £2k-£5k to spend on respray, retrim and changing the exhaust again so I can have a 3" turbo downpipe fitted to go with the 3" exhaust, Jon didn't have any made last year when I wanted one.

i saw a clean looking 944 cabriolet on ebay a month ago it was £5,500. are you after a soft or hard top. i always wanted to have a go at a lotus esprit, happy memories of 007 as a kid.
