Dear All
Wanted to say hello and introduce myself. I love cars, always have, always will. I have a Golf MK4 PD 150 which I have chipped to 190, had her from new and love her to bits. Recently went to the Japenese BHP show at Lydden nr Dover, quite inspiring, would love to get on the track, and see what she can do. Just learned to service the Golf, so am feeling my way with mechanics. Thankfully there is not much to do on the Golf as she rarely goes wrong. Well that's me! Regards to all you fine posters out there.....Sydcot

Hi mate, about time you signed up. Welcome to TorqueCars and good to have you along.

I'm suprised you've not told us about your 50+ MPG after the remap ;)

50+ MPG, I should say so, over the last 3,000 miles, hit an overall average of 59.3. Diesel rules the economy world, if only it sounded better!! Yes I know I get a nice whine from the turbo, but where's the rasp of a truly sporty exhaust? How can you truly wake up the neighbours? These are the things worth living for. Anyone seen an old white Rover 216 GTI I could buy? Never been thrashed, truly reliable, loads spent on it and it still looks original. Sydcot

Hello Syd and welcome to TorqueCars. Good to have another Diesel head here that will please a few on here im sure.

Dear Turbo, The chocolate Cam issue, you'll have to enlighten me! The only problem was a bit of clutch slip early on, it went back to VW under Warranty and they fitted a new one, after that no problems. It was chipped to 190 after I has had it about 18 months. it had done around 40k at the time, so the clutch wasn't old. I guess it couldn't handle the extra PPPOOOOWWWEEERRR.

the cam and followers on the 150 were quite weak on a lot of engine causing them to wear away quickly, most went before 60k. seems they had a similer problem with the 2.0tfsi engine when it 1st came out. the high presure pump was operated by the cam these wore away rather quickly in a lot of engines. this has since been fixed along with the issue with the fuel pumps
