Just signed up for this forum. Working on a project were I want to turn in an old A6 to a mean Diesel monster. Hope to pick up a few valuable knowledge and tips, and hopefully share my experiences here as well, as the project develops.

Hi Kare and a warm welcome to TorqueCars. Feel free to ask any questions. Are you doing much engine work or is it mainly turbo and mapping mods you will be doing?

Hello all,

Thank you all for your warm welcome greatings.

My project is in the layout stage. I'm gathering information on what can be done and how much this will cost me in time and effort.

I will play with a 2.5 TDI first, and then my real project will be a A4 3.0 TDI (2005)

I have been driving Diesel for ten years and been frustrated of the knowlege at tuning specialists that Diesel can only be tuned by increasing the Diesel pump characterestics.

I have grown up in my fathers work shop so I have taken a few engines apart in my erlier days.

My experience in tuning is limited, but I feel I have learnt the basics, based on petrol engines.

My motivation is driven by that there is a huge potentional in the TDI engines that has not been fully unleached. (Well not in my region of the world, as I know yet)

So this will be my crusade toward any opinion that TDI can not be fun to tune. :)

Beeing in charge of research and development, I have some knowlege on how to define the needs and functions and hopefully be able to make or modify something that can be used for this project.

I have come across a lot of myths, but I want to know how and know why things work or do not work.

I hope I will be able to contribute with some useful information as this project develop.

Thanks again for you warm welcome everyone!

sounds like youve got a plan. What sort of gains are you looking at for the 3.0 ?
ive heard of the 1.9 engines getting to 220 bhp and silly torque, theres also one on youtube getting 260bhp using a propane injection kit

turning the diesel pump on newer cars isnt enough, the car will notice that its running rich and adjust as necessary
