True Steve, but a wonderful achievement non the less. I suppose after the news hits the motoring world the production numbers might increase?

I'm sure it will filter down into our cars in 10 years time or so! The roads will be so empty because people will get to their destinations more quickly and not be on them!

I do prefer this kind of speed record - a car with driven wheels, that does at least bear some resemblance to the cars we all drive and that you could drive to the shops and back.

I mean the Thrust SSC and the like are amazing technological acheivements and I have massive respect for the engineers and the drivers, but they are basically a wingless plane, and it becomes an exercise in stopping it taking off.
