Heater channels

My name is Keith.
I'm married with two grown up children and five grandchildren.I have a 1971 Beetle 1300 cc which my wife bought me for my birthday 9 years ago.The beetle needs a few repairs to it,has anyone out there used a heater channel quick repair panel my heater channels look alright inside the car it's just rotten outside underneath.If the quick repair panel was any good it would save me replacing both heater channels.Sorry for going on a bit.
