It does annoy me sometimes when you get a car back from a motortrader and it has not been look after.

After getting a pair of tyres fitted there is glue all around the new tyre and on the alloy wheels. I suppose it will wear off but it is the attention to detail that leads to my dissapointment.

There is alot of that this way and it is always the garages that are usually busy places. In this day and age I think the garage owners think more about quantity than quality. I mean they just want the cars in and out as soon as possible so the next one can come in.

That's why once you find a good one, you have to stick to it. I agree with TN in thinking that a lot of garages these days just rush the cars through as fast as possible.

I think stricter regulations are needed on garages, because any old donut with a bit of cash can set up his own "garage", whether he is trained or not. It's also too easy to rip people off, because they don't knowwhat work is involved.

That's not to say all the dealers are great, as they get business regardless by being dealers whereas as independents rely more on reputation. Not to say all back-street garages are rubbish either, usually that's where you find the most knowledge and actual passion for cars.

Thats just about spot on mate. It's a shame that so many garages just don't care. I've seen it even worse if your a lady and take the car to the garage. I know plenty on women that have been ripped off. Good garages are very hard to come by these days thats why I won't take the Ti to any garage only for its MOT.

I'm the same and it's worse for those of us that own rare or rare (ish) cars or engines, unless you find a specialist. Believe it or not there are a fair few Fiat dealers that don't even know the Punto GT exists and even reports of some denying its existence lol, let alone independant garages!

I have the same problem with the Pug. Very few were sold as saloons or estates with the 2.2 diesel lump. Biggest market was the Coupe models.

like TN69, will only take mine in for an MOT. Even wheel alignment etc i wont go in for anymore and do it at home as the idiots almost tore the bottom of the front bumper last time!!
