Ford UK has just contacted me to tell me that the warranty on my Pug is about to expire after three years since I bought it (used from a Ford dealer).

They're offering 1 yr £319, 2 years £538, 3 years £657 effectively £319/year but £100 discount for buying 2nd year and £200 discount for 3rd year.

Question: Should I go for it?

I plan to keep the car another 100,000 miles anyway so perhaps that's the answer in a bag.

Opinions please.

Rgds,

Paul.

It will fix your repair costs over the 1-3 year period. Insurance is always a gamble but it does give you some security and something to budget with. Prices are set to go up so I see it as an advantage if you anticipate repairs. You use your car and drive it hard so component failure is probably more likely than most. You had a bit of work done under warranty recently and if I remember correctly this may well re-appear later on.

Personally, I'd gamble and not get the extended warranty. £319 a year would be too much money to me. Do you think your car is likely to need repairs done?
