dodgy handling

Hi jonster and welcome to TorqueCars. The handling should be pin sharp on the type R. I'm guessing the camber and toe settings are out. Get this checked out. Tyre pressures can also wreck a cars handling. What exactly is the problem? Is in the corners or does it tend to wander on the straight?

Hi there, I'm getting that DeJaVu feeling! ;) Check the tyre pressures and camber/toe settings. More info on the handling problems would probably help us pinpoint it more exactly. Has the car been fitted with Massive alloy wheels?

have you touched the suspension, dropped it coilovers airbags anything or even hit lare bump at speed . or changed the wheels to something stupid like 22"s

It is probably the 18's I believe this effect is called "tram lining". The drop of 30 mm and larger wheels is not helping much. I bet there is not much clearance between the wheels and arches. Take the car in for a 4 wheel alignment and get the camber and toe set (avoid the local mRfastquickclutchfit outfit and use a local tyre specialist or an accident repair specialist with the laser alignment equipment). Toe in gives better stability in the straights but reduces cornering slightly so perhaps if they just more the toe towards toe in a little things will improve. ;)

Hi jonster55, If you have dropped the car by 30 mm, the standard camber setting will alter. You can get camber adjustment cam bolts for the type R Civic for the fronts, and adjustable top arms for the rear. They are fairly cheap. Also with the 18's you should use revised alignment settings to compensate for the extra diameter. Could recommend a good place for the parts and a setup where i used to work on performance tuning and racing modifying type R Hondas. Unfortunately its an hour and a half from you in Hampshire.

Welcome to TorqueCars jonster55, nice to see another Civic owner, and another Northampton based member!! As for the handling, I'd say waynne has got it covered.

hi DimmaThanDim,i live just out side Kettering (northamptonshire) theres no descent modifying company 's near here so i could do a recommendation or two, cheers
