Do Inductions Kits Make Noise

Do induction kits make the car sound louder all the time or just when accelerating?

My old car did & you could clearly hear the induction noise when the turbo was working hard. My current NA car has a BMC CDA and that has some induction noise but It's not as obvious, probably due to the louder exhaust! The effect will vary from car to car, but as rule the harder the engine works the more air it needs. Here's my favourite example of mad induction noise!

depends on the system.
an open cone kit will make noise on acceration a kit such as Loz has will generally be slightly quieter as there is still an airbox

The more air is being sucked into the engine the louder the noise.

On idle there won't be much difference but as said when the throttle is open then you'll get more noise.

Hi Everyone,

Just to let you all know that I got the induction kit fitted - a K&N 57i and... as turbonutter said - "On idle there won't be much difference but" ... "when the throttle is open then you'll get more noise."... and what a noise it makes - superb... I love it!

Even if you accelerate normally you can hear it work, but when you really give it some welly you can really hear it!

This is my first engine modification too - so if you have had other stuff done to your cars then it may sound even better?

That induction roar does get very addictive. Makes me grin like a 10 year old again :bigsmile: My missus just shakes her head
