civic 2.2

cheers fella's, i got the paint for the rocker cover today, its a honda red, aint sure of the name tho but its the closest i could get to the type r badge. its etch primed ready to final prep tomorow. the sparky's guna stop back on monday nite and do the wiring for me.

coming along nicely mate well done,
looking at the pics theres still a nice bit of room left

saw others in car mags and they looked like they were really cramed

when you said about the engiene made to fyt the car, i now know where your coming from

i painted the rockercover yesterday, its honda le mans red, it was a nice colouc but i decided to ad a blue pearl and for sum reason it came out PINK!!!!!! lol. it looks really trippy though with all the pearl. its just pink!!! ill try and get a pic today in the sun

it runs!! we got it running tonight, not for long though cos theres still pipe work to finnish and a few other things but we had it running long enough to make sure everything was working ok. not be long now till its finnished.

its nearly all done now, the sparky finished off the wiring on thursday nite, we sorted the power steering and got the batery in the boot. its going to an exhaust specialist to get the down pipe extended to mate up with the maniflod. i'd do it myself but i dont have stainless welding gear. hopefully it'l be in for test by the end of the week!!! then its back off the road again to do the body work!!!

hi, sorry i aint been on for a while, ive been really busy. well my civics all done now, got it through an mot only needing a trye, brake pipe and a service!!! its been on the road now for nearly a month and used every day. im just slowly doin bits and pieces (performance) when i get time. got a japspeed de cat to go on, cold air feed, chip (to remove the bloody speed governer!!!!!!!) etc...
i need to replace the 2 top control arms cos they've got a little play in the ball joints, anyone know where the best place is to get these cheap? cheapest ive been quoted is £40 each
anyway just thought i'd check in and update. ill try and make some time and do a wright up about how to do the conversion in the next few weeks.

Hi there mate, stunning job. Well done for getting there and you did it in pretty good time.

Why not email me the writeup and pics and I'll add the feature to the main site? webmaster@torquecars.com that would be a very cool feature to have and will be read by 10,000's + of visitors per month.

alright guys im new to this whole forum business but i have to say ive bin reading up on this particular project as im also looking to stick a prelude 2.2 lump in my civic. however im not very experienced in mechanics although i am very eager to learn. i know the right people but basically just wanted to know how long it took you fellas to gain the know how to perform engine swaps yourself???

all it is, is nuts and bolts and an intrest in cars

welcome to tc by the way

i never done a swap before, but will do 1 as soon as i get an esi - lsi civic
im putting an accord 2.0 lsi in to it
i know a small bit about cars, but this is out of my leauge, wont stop me from trying though
if things go wrong for me, i have friends in high places,
PRINCE on this forum knows alot about swaps, JMACA should write a book on his expieriance with his swap (same as you)..and i live on a terrace with 2 mechanics and my brother is an apprentice in a very good garage
so im never going to be stuck, in a sense

the best way to gain knoledge on cars, is to work on them with fellas and ask a 1001 questions, read books, watch programs, and ask any question on this site, somebody is bound to know the answer:D

Judging by the thread post times 19/5 was the start and it was finished 09/12.

Welcome to the site, nice to have you along.

We're hoping to get a full writeup and feature of this project on the main site. I know quite a few others are planning this very same conversion.

there not the start and finish times, when i 1st posted i only just got the donor car (i think) the whole conversion was done in around a month but as im self employed i could do it day and nite when needed. i could probably do one much quicker but i stripped out the engine bay to respray it as im changing the colour.

thanks, does anyone know if the civic vtis discs fit a coupe? ive got the prelude calipers to bolt on and the vtis discs are the same diameter, just dont want to go ahead and get some to find they wont fit.
ive just replaced the spool filter gasket on my civic, i highly recomend everybody does this as there was alot of crap cloging it up. no one ever changes these but it it an absolute must!!!!!!
ive got a set of rc injectors on the way and a high pressure fuel pump to for the civic, hopefully get them on before xmas:D

its the gasket between the vtec solinoid and the heas, its held on with three 10mm bolts, its a simple diy job, its a routine maintnence thing but few people know about it and even less change it. its dealer part only but there is a jap shop selling them for the b series.
its a rubber o ring type gasket with a mesh gause, it gets blocked and can cause lack of oil pressure to the head and stop the vtec working or make it not work properly.
it costs around £20 and is a small price to pay for the benifits.
try it, unbolt the vtec solinoid and see the build up of sh*t in the gause. you can simply clean the filter and reuse but i wouldnt recomend it.

hi, im new to this forum, any 1 know how hard it is to put a 2.2 vti into a civic coupe? i do alot of engine conversions but ive never done one of these before. does it go pretty much straight in ???

My mate done a 2.2 prelude type s engine swap in his SIR, took him about 3 months to do one hell of a job to complete, requires alot of custom fabrication but its worth it in the end his car was a rocket, he stripped it completly of any excess weight, cost a fare bit to do aswell bud.
Good luck with her tho.

hi people, aint been on for a couple of weeks, jus been really busy again. im still guna post a 'how to do' so other people can try, alternativley i can carry out the conversion if needed. ive just had the mugen race chip installed in my ecu, you cant see but i have a huge grin from ear to ear!!! my civic is a MACHINE!!! just waiting for the seals to come for the rc 550 injectors and the repair kit for the aem fuel rail regulator (its over fueling a bit, chucks 6ft flames when im racing lol)
does any one know if the type r clocks will plug up to a coupe harness? the speedo on my clocks only go to 140 and the rev counter needle just goes off the scale.

did have a power output day orginised but aparently if your car is lowered it'd struggle to get to it (theres a dirt track). guna try and find a local rolling road (with a good reputation) and try to orginise something.

Good work mate. Can't wait for the writeup I was only thinking about this project this morning as it happens.
