There is only one additive I recommend and it's the BG range.

Are you having any problems or is this just part of your routine care?

The BG stuff is much stronger than most and really does clean off the injectors and can even help restore a dpf to good working order. It's only needed once every 20,000 miles in my opinion, less if you use a good quality fuel like Shell or BP which both have good quality cleaning additives in them.

How accessible is the sump to get at to remove it as that would be the first thing I would look at doing as oil supply to the pump is critical to the motors longevity.?

You could try an engine flush as per the directions to hopefully remove the sludge that is blocking the OPU and refill with new oil.

It's worth trying and if it works then it seems to me that it should be used prior to every oil change as a preventative measure seeing that cars motor has a known problem with blockage of the oil pickup.
