does anyone know how long the aa call prompt ? thinking about getting the relay, get you home package, it says if they cant fix at road or PROMPT at a local garage theyl take you anywhere you wanna go inside the uk, hopeing they will just bypass the garage bit n get me home so i can sort it, rang them and asked and was told if i ask theyl just tow me home n that i (the customer) is in control

That's correct. If you have roadside relay then they'll take you anywhere in the UK, whether home or another choice of destination. You can upgrade this to include overnight hotel accomodation, hire cars etc.

Hire can can extend to a whole length of a holiday if you keep increasing the level of cover and, of course, cost.

If your car is still under warranty you will almost certainly have all these privileges anyway so you might need nothing else at all.

Correct. You can go anywhere you want with basic relay, that includes a garage of your choice or any other destination. That includes back to home. It will bring you and your car home, after which it's up to you to get it to a garage/dealer/specialist.

What the basic relay service will not do is to send you off in a rental car subsequent to delivery of your car to the garage. You can upgrade your plan to cover almost every eventuality, including driving within the EU. But the costs will escalate exponentially.

I am an AA member and have found them very willing to tow me. They were willing to tow my car over 500 miles on one occassion although it would have been a lot cheaper for them to get me to a local garage for a quick fix as it was only a clutch cable.

New members may have some restrictions but I doubt this. I know if you make more than 5 calls in a year they (and indeed most other breakdown services) get a bit stroppy.
