    Alternatives for miller oil

That's an interesting point, but I bet a dig around the blogs and websites you'd probably find some information. But these days with fully synthetic oils I bet, for road car use, there is not much between them and if you are reducing change intervals because of high stress situations, I should...

What oil to use in my Fiesta ST 1.6 turbo.

If you are concerned about this build of carbon and are modifying your engine, or have some spare funds, I'd recommend fitting a multi injector water/methanol kit. These function at set boosts and will effectively steam clean your valves, ports and combustion chambers, whilst providing more...

    Tiny engine, insane power

This is a fine example of what a bottomless pit can create. This is engineering at the cutting edge (at its time) and we still see the F1 engines banging out over 1000hp, but at what experience, and cost. The engines are stripped and rebuilt after every race with no expense spared towards...

    Alternatives for miller oil

All top quality oils are manufactured to an SAE standard, so can be relied on. Check what the rally team for the Citroën are using, that will help point you. But as you are extracting so much power from the car, think about changing the oil and filter far more frequently, especially if you are...

What oil to use in my Fiesta ST 1.6 turbo.

Stick with top quality fully synthetic oil, what do the race teams use, or rally teams? Gives you good indication. If you are extracting that much power, you will need to reduce your service intervals by at least a half. Perhaps even down to 6000km between changes, especially if you are pushing...

Carbon buildup due to free-flowing exhaust and/or K&N filter?

I can categorically state that a K&N filter with a full flow exhaust is not your problem here. If it is only one cylinder that is suffering, then you have a piston, piston ring or valve stem and seal problem. Which at the milage you state would not be unreasonable to expect. If you were...

1993 300ZX , oil into the coolant - likely cause?

My suggestion, as you want to keep the original motor, is to search the scrap yards for another motor with low miles and one that has never been messed with. Set up a clean room / dirt room workshop and get to it. Strip, clean and inspect, have checked if unsure. Get rematchined if needs be...

    Tiny engine, insane power

Hi, I get where you are coming from and understand your ideas. I'm a small engine big hp nutter to. I run a street legal 1.2tsi Skoda Fabia Monte Carlo Estate, which is currently running at 160hp. However you are failing to see the fundamentals, especially with what @SLEEPER says. A 1200cc...

So pleased to hear you're OK, and the healing process is progressing well. Terrible shame about lockdown again, it just seems to go around and around... I'm not convinced we will ever truly get on top of it. The virus is to smart and quick, and humans are to stupid. A shame. Our government has...

That's is such great news, really pleased for you, and a relief that you can use the clutch OK. You get used to the altered sensation I'm sure. Job well done I'd say, and yes, time to get back to living. I'm very happy for you. Enjoy. Best wishes Kev

What could cause a massive thud when switching off the engine ?

Well, we all learn something new every day. None of us can know everything, and until we get feedback like this, we can often never know. Thanks for letting us know. Two years is a long time, but these often dark hidden problems are so obscure they rarely happen or come to the light. Your...

I have been looking a Beanies for the turbo, a couple look excellent, and although comparative in price to coating, none of the disassembly hassle. I have never used wrap before on pipes, and it looks like one of those things that if you get it right it's good, get it wrong and it's a complete...

    Fabiamania is Fabulisious....

Hi, yes it's a bit of a nightmare situation. I would need to have the front halve of the exhaust and the turbo removed and refitted for me as I'm not physically capable any longer. 6 hours at aud $90 = 552 The turbo would require the turbine housing removed so it could be coated. I guess at...

    Fabiamania is Fabulisious....

Pleased to hear healing is going well, such great news. Unfortunately at the time the exhaust was built, which took eleven hours, there was no option for coating or wrapping. I have been looking at both this week as it happens. There is a nice Titanium / Carbon Fibre / Basalt Fibre mix which...

Thanks for the information and advice. Once again, very helpful. I have just had my bonnet vents fitted and noted the oil temperature has dropped by two degrees C across the driving range, did a 330 km run out yesterday with ambient temperatures of 22 - 24 C so I'm very pleased with the result...

    Diesel exhaust systems

What sort of response is this, and why? It is not aimed at you or your vehicle, which sounds pretty well sorted. My comment about poor mapping etc. Is a generalised comment regarding the possible causes of huge clouds of black smoke emminating from a diesel engine, and all of my offerings are...

    Diesel exhaust systems

Not dumb ideas at all, but you are still going to need to bend, cut, weld sections together. And if you are not an exhaust fitter with all the gear : tubing, bends or a bender, cutting equipment, TIG welder, and car hoist... Oh the list is endless, it will be a nightmare of a job, and that is...

    Diesel exhaust systems

Where abouts are you? I just had an amazing system built by Tony Banks Exhausts in Leeds; built be a Turbo back system to my own specs including a 200 cell Cat, although you will need a DPF. cost me just under a £1000 all in. The black clouds you speak of is often down to poor remapping, over...

    What's on TCJB's 2020 bucket list ?

Jeez you be careful, I know you maybe don't need to use it, but what if bash it one or snag it on something.... Makes me shiver just to think about it. Can't afford to set it back, especially now when it looks like it's starting to heal well. Please be careful mate. I get it though, spring fever...

    118D LEGAL UPGRADES

A lot has been said already and it's all relevant, but it doesn't stop there either. For 300 horse you are going to need to change out near everything, you will need a quality crank and bearings to match, plus high tensile bolts. Forged pistons and rods. Bluprinting the motor would be the best...

Having issues getting the photos up, but have a go tomorrow. I'm focusing on the induction side now, and I would love to get hold of a genuine R5 rear wing, so it functions. I'm not into bolting stuff on that won't serve the end product. I have also been toying with the idea of a single mass...

Yes this is at the tyres: the difference is phenomenal, I will put the photos of the exhaust build in my Fabiamania folder in the gallery. David who built the system did an amazing job to carry out my wishes; as we discussed, as large as possible dump pipe into the cat then onwards to the...

I have just arrived home from two full on days of modding. First was an early start in Leeds at Tony Banks Exhausts : his best chap worked tirelessly on my behalf to built the work of art that is now my new exhaust system. It is glorious, in looks, sound and nature. The following day was a...

Here you can see how tight everything is. The wastegate is clearly visible in the turbo outlet, with the wide flange and below the inlet for the Primary Cat.... No room to swing a cat, springs to mind.... Hahaha
  35. Fabia17

    Fabiamania continued

Yes, The wastegate is internal on this unit and releases back into the exhaust or dump pipe, in my case this is directly into the primary cat inlet. The pressure side/cold side of the system on this model Fabia does away with dump valves/blow off valves and has a sealed delivery pipe.
  36. Fabia17

    Fabiamania continued

Hi, yes I see your meaning however the turbo dumps straight into the primary cat which hangs virtically down the back of motor taking all available space, I guess in some respect it acts like a large dump pipe its has a huge inlet flange probably some 75mm or 80mm in diameter, the new cat is...

HEELO, IM ROBERT FROM THE NETHERLANDS

Hi there, and welcome to the site : my first suggestion would be to go through our articles in the tuning section and do your research about tuning. Regarding the gearbox It is difficult to say how much power or more specifically torque it will handle, I would be inclined to research more...

Why can't you get performance cams for diesels?

You can have your cams ground, but diesel engines rarely require a high lift cam, usually because they are turbo charged, and a turbo cam is designed for maximum efficiency working with the turbo. Changing your cam profiles could cause all sorts of knock-on and undesirable effects. Hope this helps.

    Fabiamania continued

Hi, yes I have considered this and it's a tricky balance: if it was just a dump pipe and very short a large diameter would be perfect just to get the hot gas away from the car but having a full system, and trying to balance internal cabin noise with very strict UK legislation is difficult. As...
