I can think of loads of pointless products and just have to ask why do they sell them?

Thin jump leads are dangerous in my opinion as they heat up.
Anything certified for of road use for a car you'd only use on the road!
Fuel And oil additives (only a very few of these are worth buying imo)

What things would you add to this list?

They sell thin jump leads because people buy them.

This gets around any legal issues if part breaks on the highway. Most modified parts haven't gone through the rigorous testing of OEM parts, even though they may well be stronger. Therefore, in order to safeguard your business, you stamp the parts "for race use only" or something similar. When I finally get round to going public with website all items will be stamped thus :)

Because people believe that they work. Why do people fall for the next diet fad? If people can be fooled into buying something, someone will be prepared to make and sell it.

Putting for race or track use only makes for good sales from the younger amongst us.
Nothing like a race only rear exhaust box for extra kudos on your saxo especially if it has a sticker.
