Who buy soft tops in the uk? What is the appeal when our weather is so bad?

Have you owned one? Did it seem like a good idea at the time or did you enjoy every moment of owning it?

A decent convertible/cabriolet is perfectly driveable in bad weather so if you want one why not

I love them. lucky I have 4 cars so can have one that don't get used a lot in bad weather. Bought my first one in 1968 & have owned a few since then. Its the only motoring pleasure that I share with the Missus she loves Top down motoring as well. She hates going fast so a real barn stormer is not required. The SLK has a solid hardtop that disappears into the boot at the touch of a button so no drips or leaks.

I also have an slk - one of the first to be sold in the uk (1998) the roof has never leaked

Modern soft tops are little different from hard tops, apart from the advantage of top down motoring in nice weather and loss of boot space.

Wife has an Astra turbo soft top and daughter an SLK convertible. My Elan was a soft top but, due to circumstances beyond my control, it is now a hard top :)
