I am re watching an older episode of TopGear and they mentioned what car manufactures that actually have made a lot of really good cars.

So who would you suggest?

I'd tend to think most of the above categories really. For me I'd say Peugeot. There is the 306, 205 and 106. The 406 and don't forget the 308 and the 308 gti. The 206 gti was a great car and reviews mention the RCZ was pretty good as well.

Yeah, Peugeot is a good nominee, I've driven plenty which I liked. The old early 1990s 405 was a favourite of mine with it's superb handling and refinement inside.

Pretty certain it (the Mi16) was a natural breather. 160bhp from a 1905cc engine is quite an achievement, especially for the era!!!!!

Correct the MI16 was NA ;) and was considered to be one of if not the best handling cars of all time.

^^ :embarrest:.........You cheeky devil.......

I was thinking along the lines of some of the more iconic models that they produced; the Escort including RS versions, Sierra including RS versions, Capri, Cortina, Granada, Mondeo, KA, Fiesta, Focus and even that trusty road horse the Transit van. I would be very surprised, if at some point that no one on here had not owned or at least driven one of these cars.

haha! :D

Ford has also built many really good cars. So good call Os! I would kill for an Escort RS.

I have never understood the Ford love, in 1972 you could buy a Mk1 Escort RS 2000 that had a single over head cam engine producing 100 bhp, with a 4 speed gearbox.

Or at the same time you could buy a Fiat 124 sport coupe with a 1.6 twin cam engine with two twin 40 down draught webers and a 5 speed gearbox producing 108bhp

I know which one I would go for.

^^ That's easy Colin, where I used to live and back in the day, Ford in Dagenham was literally 4 miles up the road. Quite a few people who lived local to me worked there, so Ford ruled with the cars in the area.
I got accustomed to all things Ford and very quickly as any time a new model of any description came out, I could guarantee one of my neighbours had one. ;)

I just goggled that and have to agree.
