To get more power from an electric engine it would appear we need to develop a whole new set of skills.

Maplins could well be the new Halfords in this brave new world of car tuning.

I'm no electronics expert but I would say the following would work.
  1. More winds on the coils around the electric motor
  2. Bigger voltage to the motor
  3. Massive capacitors to store surge power
It would also appear that gearboxes are no longer required for electric motors? Can anyone confirm this or explain why they are not needed?

I'm getting the impression that a lot of us would only consider an electric car as a last resort then?

kinda looks like it.

bigger batteries to start with would be best seeing as they only last for a couple of miles before they gone.

youve also got the problem of the batterys life with electric cars
