Check the battery and alternator, these can cause this problem and are the easiest thing to check.

A clutch actuator can also cause this issue.

Is it just a warning light or do you have gear change/gearbox issues?
 
Check the oil level for the gear box and if necessary replace it. Get a proper auto electrician to check the charging rate of the alternator both under load and at nominal. Ask him to check if you have anything staying drawing a load that should not be on when you have closed the doors and switched on the alarm.
