i was looking at buying a cheapish rwd car to have some fun in just thinking what would be good was thinking mr2 or mx5?

It depends on your budget but don't dismiss the stunning Honda S2000, bullet proof reliability and lots of tail slidey fun in the wet to be had.
The MR2 and MX5 are also fine cars, the MX5 is pretty cheap to run but really lacks power in standard form but is a good starter fun car.

3 series BMWs can be entertaining but get a six cylinder one in preference. The fours are good but a straight six is in perfect balance by design.

300zx twin turbo??? had 2 of them, one yellow, basic model and red one bi-turbo (in manual of course) targa, roof off and enjoy, they can be bought for as little as 1000quid, but hard to find cheap and decent one in manual. And it is much a bigger than mx5, but great fun

saw a mr2 t-bar on autotrader yesterday s-plate in black with black leather, lady owner.think it was up for 700,only 5 miles from me in ng15. good luck with the search.

what about a nissan s14 or s15, mazda rx7, rx8, toyota ae86 sprinter or levin, toyota supra, lexus is200, honda civic si coupe with s2000 conversion! toyota mr-s, evo (with front drive eliminated)... also depends what it will be used for lol

You won't beat an MX-5 for pound vs. fun factor, there are some decent ones out there for peanuts now. Reliable, cheap to run and insure....almost everything else mentioned here WILL be a money pit.

Dunno chief as I get older I realise more and more most people look like a prat in anything performance orientated, especially something cheap and Japanese. So, forget about looking like a prat, and enjoy yourself
