Leather scuff mark repair

I have a couple of annoying scuff marks on my leather upholstery (seats are second hand full leather with electric adjustments exchanged for my original half leather manual version) I have seen some diy kits around, is this really a diy kind of a thing or is it best left to the pro's? Don't want to make the damage any worse

Is the leather smooth or grained? Smooth leather is quite easy to DIY repair with a kit but grained leather will usually show up on a DIY repair.

I bought a DIY kit for our car and it did a very good job. You paint the stuff on, let it settle, press a grain imprint into it and then it dries off. As long as you've matched up the colour ok you end up with a perfect repair.

I'm not sure how it would cope with splits but cracked and peeling leather seem to come up fine.
