I found myself indicating on a totally empty road the other day.

Initially I thought it was a bit pointless and that I was wasting my time but actually it is just a habit and is done automatically.

Plus even if I couldn't see other cars or road users around it doesn't mean there aren't any.

What are your thoughts about indicating when on a totally empty road? (I'ts all a bit Zen really -Does a tree falling over make a sound if there is no one around to hear it?)

always indicate even if an empty road, you dont know when someone else is going to appear out of nowhere - in any case, its just good practise.

I do most of the time purely out of habit, If there's obviously nobody about i occationally do not.

I generally do it out of habit. Strangely it's when things get busier I often inhibit some signals to avoid cluttering the information I absolutely need to convey with information that is only offered in courtesy.
