well dudes am gonna need to change my gearbox before anything, the thing is shot. Heard of putting a smaller gearbox i.e from a 1.0l polo with give me closer ratios? but i dont no if i can go about with a straight swap? would i need a specialist to do fit it. if i can get that sorted just be making a few miner changes like panel filter replacement thinking green, de badge the front grill already got some nice ice from my old xr3i cab hookered up

Welcome, wouldn't puttin a lower spec gearbox (1liter) affect the top end speed, I would of thought the 1.4 gearbox would have a longer final drive, could be wrong tho

yeah i understand the top end going down but am not fussy about that at all. would it go straight in though?
