My name is cassie and ive joined this group to help my partner. As long as I've known him his life has been about cars. Looking at them. Driving them. Fixing them. But mainly about his Ford mondeo 2.5 litre v6 turbo diesel car that he tuned, and modified and loved more than he loved anything else (including me on occasion lol) now 4 days ago a drunk driver smashed into his car writing it off. Since then he just keeps saying he can't be bothered with cars, or doing anything to them because all that happens is someone comes along and destroys it. I want to see him happy again, I want him to have that passion back but I don't know how to do it. Any suggestions or similar stories would be helpful thank you so much,

Cassie

Hi Cassie.

Difficult one, this. I know that when my car caught fire having just spent months modifying it it took me a few days to get my head around it and I normally treat adversity as a challenge.

Is the car a total writeoff? Has he still got it? Is any of it salvagable? Could he transplant any of the mods onto another Mondeo?

Rebuilding the car, no matter how badly damaged, is the easy part. Getting his mojo back, in order to tackle what will be a challenge, can be far more difficult. All you can do is stay positive, supportive and encouraging. There is no point in constantly talking about it unless he brings it up.

He may get his mojo and enthusiasm back in a few days, months or not at all and move on. There is no way of telling, unfortunately.

He would be welcome to join us on here to talk about his car and what to do.

Greetings and a Warm Welcome to our TorqueCars Forum my Friend!

Good to have you along with us :)

Thank you all for welcoming me. He could save the stereo system and the wheels but that's about it. The rest has been destroyed. I'm hoping this will only be temporary due to his pure love of it. Thank you for your advice, I've stopped asking about what he wants to do with his new focus. Hopefully when he goes to usc he will get that love back :)

He is just so lucky to have a lady like you at his side to help him thru this bad patch.

If he doesn't get his mojo back after USC then there is little else that can be done :)

Hey Cassie,
My first post after 3, mebbe 4 years. and i have the honor of sending it to you, even if i have taken the liberty to do so, without as much as a if I may.
here's my "penny's worth"....
Get your man a new shell, , beaten as it may be.
Walk up to him, and go," If you loved your buggy as much as I think you did, and if you still love me after that incident, get your fri**ing ass off that chair and fix all the old stuff into this 'coz i feel, that all it needs is a new skin.
Your old buggy was our baby, and i am not gonna give it up, just because of this, even if you want to.
So if you ever wanna take me out again, make sure you bring our baby back to me. 'Coz I'll be damned if I ride on someone else's lost dreams, letting our baby fade away like a broken dream.
...Positive motivation....?
Take the chance.
Fingers crossed... ;)

Hi Cassie.
Welcome aboard.
My timing belt snapped on my Ford Escort a few years ago - not quite the same thing, but the cost of repair was more than the car was worth. The feeling of loss was huge.
I know how down your fella is feeling as the little car was my world at the time. It was all I had, so I know what it is like to feel fed up and to not be bothered anymore. He needs to keep visiting the forums and car shows to be among like minded people as far as cars are concerned. That might ignite the spark again and he will take up the challenge to restore and rebuild. Ask him to get in touch with us here at Torque cars and who knows what can happen. There is a good crowd of guys and girls here and all have strengths that may help him.
Hope this helps. Good luck.
