hiya if anyone could help that would be great i want a bigger engine 1600 16 valve maybe or even a 1.8t if its cheap enought im sick of ma m8s flyin past me on the motorway it doin ma head in so if anyone nows any tricks an prices bein in a resession an all thank dave

See what is at your local breakers. The 1.8T was actually an engine option in South Africa so if VW can fit one so can you. You might need some custom engine mounts and a 1.8T gearbox and as long as you uprate the suspension you should be ok and will have a supremely quick car.

Aaagh I've seen the 1.8T conversion done before somewhere, it's annoying me I can't remember where to show you. It's not going to be cheap though. Biggest cost for most basic engine swaps will be labour so if you can do it yourself, you're onto a winner.
