i recently bought a 1988 ford laser gl and i was wondering if anyone could tell me what is a good engine to put in it if i decided to mod it one day soon.

Hi spackjack welcome to torquecars. There are quite a few engine swaps on the escorts. The top of the range has to be a sierra cosworth and upgrade to a 4x4. The Zetec and 2.0 Sierra engines are less complicated to install so these are probably the best options for you.
