E46 316 differential

Hello :cheesy: i have a E46 316 ( 1.9 engine ) and i need a new diff . Just wondering what could i put on ?

Does it need to be E46? or could i get one from a 1.6 E36?

Would the ratio be the same as a 318 ?

Could i put the diff from a 320, 323, 325 etc on ?

from a 318 but its an e46 and 1.9 will it work ?

Diffs from an E36 need to be modified from what i've read to fit on the E46. You will probably find that the E46 M series diff will fit if you swap out the driveshafts and axles as well.

So could i put any diff on then ? Found one from a 325 ?

How would it affect the acceleration / top speed ?

edit : the 325 ratio is 3.23, i THINK mine is 3.38 thought could be wrong.

Anyone know?
