Be careful if selling cars privately

I wasn't expecting that! That would probably have caught me out. It won't now though.

I import a few cars and sell them .To me its simple ..................my car - my rules

1 Explain your rules before anyone comes round
2 you drive the car untill they have bought it.
3 they dont drive it untill you have the cash or the money in your account
And If they complain It is illeagal to drive without insuance . All the time its your car insurance is your responsibility.

It's an old trick. Simply ask the driver/potential buyer/potential thief to switch off the engine and hand you the keys. I've always done it this way.

I have never sold a working car to anyone other than a friend. The rest have been taken on trailers once paid for, apart from the old motorhome. No tax or insurance so no test drive. It was bought and driven home on trade plates :)

I only accept cash and I use one of those checking pens. Not 100% foolproof but good enough.
