My radio cuts out for long periods at a time. The Honda garage tell me the radio has an internal fault, and to fit a new one. I have seen one in Halfords I like, but they said they can't fit it if it's a Bose system. How do I find out?

Bose is usually stamped on the Fascia but also a Bose head unit will Always be matched to BOSE speakers so check the rear of a speaker (the rears are probably the easiest to get to) and see if they are bose speakers.

I would prefer to use a specialist fitter and supplier myself rather than a shop that does everything from exhausts to wiper blades.

Thanks Waynne. The front of the radio simply says Honda, and I have discovered since searching for a replacement model that it is a Pioneer stereo. With that in mind is it highly unlikely that the speakers are Bose?

Yes it is very unlikely they have fitted Bose Speakers.
