MSN are reporting that VW have built a prototype Golf Gti with the W12 engine in it. Producing 641bhp this Golf beast can apparently do 0-60 in 3.7secs and 202mph.

Unfortunately it is never going to go into production - what a shame!

What do you think?

These companies always amaze me when they do something like this.I mean......WHY????.I bet there was millions poured into the research and developement of this car, that is never going to hit the streets.

You know, they cant exactly advertise it as..........

" You to,could have a car like this" ( if you have a spare 3million quid)

Very nice,and all that.But why??? :?

I would tend to agree!

However, it can't be long before someone with a standard golf gti gets hold of a w12 out of an A8 and tries to recreate this!

Now that would be interesting.....500bhp in a Golf without expert R & D.

You might find that this came about the same way as the original Golf GTi. No money at all was spent on production designes for that, the very first one was built by VW technical bods at the plant in germany because they were bored. They were just messing around and experimenting, VW were so impressed with it that it went into production.
