does anyone know the best place to get a 306 2L hdi remapped?
i've looked at celtic tuning an altho the power on the pug is not that good for a 2L (90bhp and 155lbft) takes it to 129bhp and 199lbft i would really like a bit more, around the 145 bhp an 220lbft.
i dont know if that is just the standard remap or a custom map peramiters.
if anyone can shed some light on the difference between standard and custom maps i.e how much extra you can get from it having a custom rather than the standard would be well recieved :)

que hdi :p

oh an btw i would ring celtic an see but there shut till monday :/

the custom map can release a bit more power but not huge unless youve done extensive mods to the engine.
custom maps are more setup for your own driving style

remember the 306 is quite old, i doubt it will use common rail. its the introduction of the common rail ( second high pressure fuel pump, normally run off the cam ) that has brought diesel technology where it can start to compete against petrols

the normal diesel turbo is just old school 1.9D with a turbo, the 1999 - 2001 2.0L D is a HDI so it should not be too bad. i dont think it would fair up that good against a 2.0l pertol tho :/ thats why im thinking it needs a remap so its near the petrol equiv. plus v low insurance. a group 5

The HDi engine is more advanced (and generally better quality) than the standard turbo diesels and as a result it's the quickest diesel pug in the 306 range. The engine as standard is fitted with a turbo (although the enine is only turbo assisted and operates between 2 and 3 thou rpm)... HOWEVER... does not have an intercooler so in effect is compressing warm air. If you stick an intercooler on, it supposedly gives you around 40 more bhp instantly... If you did this before your rolling road re-map and mapped it in to the ecu you would easily kick out the 150 break your wanting!

...thinking about it (as a cheaper alternative) you could probably get away with simply sticking in a K n' N filter (as a replacement to the standard) and then getting your re-map (taking into account the new filter). Changing filters doesn't usually give a great performance boost but if you mapped it in it mite give you that bit of a push to get you to the 145 bhp!

hmmm very interesting. i will phone celtic up on monday and see what they say about the intercooler an remap. they should be able to help out

does anyone know anyother remapping companys that would be good to check out for a hdi remap?

i rang up celtic tuning an they said putting in the intercooler will not give any more power apart from helping with the cooling on high load driving.
BUT with the intercool if i get a remap it should be about 150 bhp, an 220 ftlb. cos it can handle the extra power without overheating

oh an does anyone know if a boost controller would help with the hdi?
i dont really know anything about them apart from.... well they control the boost lol...

That is interesting, I would have thought it would make an immediate difference as cold air compresses quicker than warm air, improving the hdi 's intake!.... but saying that they do specialise in the £300 re-maps so wil give you the hard sell on that. Either way they said an intercool on re-map will kick out the bhp your wanting so i hope i helped!

Sorry if i misled you!

i thought that it would do something aswell as the cold air has more o2 than warm. but.... now i dont know if im right, but i dont know if the ecu will be able to take advantage from it without some kind of remapping.

i shall find out tho, will be asking a few more people cos IF it does give a performance gain but gives better economy from the amount of o2 i will try an perswade Adrien flux that its for economy and to stop the car overheating :p

Yeah deffinalty an intercooler is needed here to get those sort of gains....

the hdi in the 306 has no intercooler....

and intercooler, full exhaust, some form of better induction (panel filter induction kit ect..) and a re-map the yiou will see 150 hp no problem...

where do you live?

if you live in teh midlands/ more northern are of the uk the you should get intouch qwith the derv doctor...

they will do that conversion for you no problem...

jsut type derv doctor in google...
