hello,can anyone tell me how to remove the top of the gear knob on a 2001 1.6 spacestar mirage.Its really loose,but does'nt want to unscrew. Is there anybody out there with Spacestar knowledge to help me ?

Do you think the thread might be spinning with the Knob? Do you want to replace it or just tighten it up?

Thanks for your reply,the knob is turning around although when turned to either side it does show somw resistance,id just like to have it in the straight ahead direction.

What about a bit of superglue? It's not ideal but it should help. Just be careful not to stick your fingers to it.

how about silicone ? take the knob off bit of silicone into the hole and refit

normally it on a thread or grub screw.
obviously not a thread if its just spinning so i would look for a grub screw or some sort of clip

Is there a retaining clip just under the knob? Sometime you have to unclip these and the knob will just pull off. On some gearknobs you take out the top of the knob and there is a retaining screw or bolt in them.
