bought 28-03-07 for £695 with no tax no M.O.T, had a new steering rack and re undersealed and duck oiled from the prefious owner. I managed to find it thanks to a friend of mine. (same guy that found my first car for £30) he was reading though the local adds and found it. called me up and told me about it. i was looking for the 2.8 verson but at that price thought it'll be good to have a look at. went to have a look the next day and bought it straight away. was a lovely engine with no work needed for it and started first flick of the key.

15" sony xplod sub bridged off 2 channels of the 2000W
2 x 10" co axel pioneers, off the head unit
2x 6.5" componant alpine door speakers
O gauge wiring kit

since i was still driving about in the cavalier i got an mot and tax. went though expect that the fuses had corrosion on them stopping them from connecting o 5 min fix and out with a new mot.
picked road tax up, scrapped the chavalier and made my £30 back that i bought it for.

was happy drivign about for ages in her, learnign to get the back to step out and holding it there. (dont think this helped the engine too much.) my idea was not to learn to drift her but in the case that it does slide out i know how to control it.

after driving to and from uni at night i realised that being quite low in the car and having candles as head lights i might want to do something. went to good old "east kent componants" and picked up a set of fogs and another set of driving lights. slapped them on and wired them up.

now anytime i drove back and someone left there high beams on they got a nice little shock when i turned all of mine on. no evil at all. they didnt last very long till 3 days after easter, went to the easter thumderball run at santa pod, camped in the car in the field, went it cam e to leaving i "couldn't find the exit" so had some fun in the field, which was all just mud and water with no campers left. lol.

my ride :) (part 2)

after some time of not doing much but the odd repares to the old girl i got some stupid idea in to my head that it might be time for a new engine. the old one had started to rattle abit and wasn't quite as fast as a capri should be. so i gave up caring about that engine. started to change gear about 7,000 rpm or 45mph on a drift, (it goes off the rev counter at 35.)

got myself on ebay bought a ford transit conferted caravan/minibus thing. stripped the engine out and weighted the shell in for scrap so the new engine only cost £35. nice. with my student loan coming though late i had already got though that year at uni and spent the rest of it on new parts for the new engine.

new cam, followers, springs, oil pump, fuel pump, water pump, new rings, airfilter, oil filter, bottom shells, main bearings, cam bearings, all new gaskets and core plugs, new ashley race exhaust system (maninfold and back), new seals, gave it a nice lick of paint, black red and white.

slapped it in to the old girl and had a new low compression 205 block 2L ready to blow up.

now i had a bit more power the interia got a bit of a make over with a set of ford fiesta SI seats. cut the runners of and weld my runners underneith and they managed to fix. £20 off ebay and they were really nice seat for a while.

the stero got a bit of a playing with, althought the old box looked good it still only hit 137dB and thought i should get around to reboxing them and setting it up again. so i went for performance over looks and reboxed them into the biggest boxes i could make. same system just played with was now hitting 143.6dB loud enouht to bounch the fags and phone 3 inches off the passenger seat on bass notes. and couldnt make it though a 4 minute song without having to turn it down again.

bit longer went by and things went wrong, got fixed and carried on. till a mate did a burn on in a MPV and i thought it a good idea to have a play donutting only to have all the oil go one side the sump and not oil anything up. that went bang and had to get another one off ebay. put that in and had a smoke machine for a while.

got it though the mot but needed some "little" work doing to it. new bottom arms, new stearnig rack, new rear wheel bearing, new seats, nothing to bad. got a cheap body kit, so sorted out any spots of rust on he shell and put it on the night before the car show down the car park,

then the head gasket got worse and ended up changing the head over for the old engine down the car park one night. not many people can say they done that. sprayed the bodykit to fit in to the rest of the car a bit beter half hour before going to another meet.

sprayed it with rattle cans down a local carpark, cost about £50 all in and the end results not to sad, ok its no where near as good as a proper job but its better then the 30 year old pain that was underneith.

and thats a basic out line of whats happened to my car since i had it, still a work in progress but i can only do new tings to the car when other parts stop braking

Looking good buddy! Sorry I missed this post and nice to see another Kentish lad around. There are a fair few of us on here.

Good old classic. Nice motor. Have you thought about dropping the Capri 280 engine in at all?

see everyone thinks that you should put the 2.8 colgune engine in them but they come as a v6 with 4 exhaust ports which makes them hard to tune, you can get just as much power out of a 2 litre pinto just as easily with half the weight and better rev range, easier to work on, take a low comp 205 block from a transit van and the renault 5 turbo bolts pretty much straight on to give you 210 bhp. just waiting to be able to afford the insurance so i can do this to mine. lol
