Outlander PHEV tour
Hi everyone! Looking for some advice for my Outlander PHEV, just purchased the 2018 touring model a few weeks ago and have been thinking about upgrading my tires/rims. I've been getting mixed reviews from people on how much changing my sidewall will improve the cornering of my vehicle. Right now I've got 225/55/18 and I'm thinking of going to either a 215/45/20 or a 245/40/20. What percentage of improved handling do you think I'll get? I know the Outlander also has a softer suspension so not sure if it's a better idea to just upgrade to a stiffer suspension...

Sorry to say but you wont improve the handling, you will feel every bump, it will bounce around and you'll get tramlining, plus the extra unsprung weight will not help with general handling and braking on 20's.

On a perfectly flat track with ultra low suspension a 245/40/20 will improve cornering but this is not the case on the roads.

Put some 245/45/18's or just something a bit wider, with a similar profile and you'll get better grip without the problems you get with a larger rim.
