VW Golf VR6

Hi there

I have a 1997 VW Golf VR6,in the past year or so I have noticed some rust forming on the door seal.

Any ideas on how to treat this would be greatfully received.

sand it back. etch prime it and repaint. really is the only way mate

you could just try sealing it but it wont make it disapper at best it would just stop it getting any worse

Do you reccomend any products to use, such as rust remover or any primer's?

id probably take it to a shop mate, depends on how bad the rust is. shouldnt be too much and youll get a better finish than trying to do it yourself with rattle cans

i would take pgarners advice, sand it back and respray, but like i say to every one else, if you havent done it before, dont try it unless you practise on some thing first because you could make it look worse, lol pay some one to do it professionally, and at least if anything happens, its down to them.

Check the sills in the door are not blocked. If they are then there is probably a fair bit more rust trying to get out. Hopfully it was just a stonechip that has started to rust and spread.
