pug 206 1.4hdi

good morning all, im new to this site can you give advise on my pug, it's a 1.4 hdi and it seems very sluggish no get up and go i know it's a 1.4hdi but it should have more power then what it has any advise would be great, many thanks john.

Greetings and welcome to our TorqueCars forum

Start with a full service at a garage that knows what it is doing, then if it is still not up to performance then take it to a performance specialist for a remap of the ECU.

HI T9 MAN, I HAD A FULL SERVICE RECENTLY & ENGINE FLUSH, I HAD A FORD FIESTA 1.4HDI SAME ENGINE BUT THAT CAR HAD ALOT MORE POWER COMPAIRED TO MY 206 1.4 HDI, ITS LIKE A STANDERED DIESEL WITH OUT A TURBO IF YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN, THANKS .

Get it plugged up to an OBDII diagnostic code reader. Any fault lights on the instrument cluster??

hi hdi fun i allready had the car plugged in but no codes, it feels just like the turbo won't kick in.

The turbo shouldn't kick as such, they come in pretty smoothly on the 1.4HDi. Have you tried a tank of premium fuel (V-Power or BP Ultimate) and driving it 'prescriptively' for a few dozen miles? If the turbo was completely stuck you'd have fault codes aplenty

hi mate not tryed premium fuel, i do know the turbo actuator is seized what ever that do's.

The actuator is the device which controls the vanes in the exhaust side of the turbo. That is almost certainly the problem. Good luck !!! Additives can work too but my personal preference is a good spirited drive firstly. Warm it up properly before being harsh with it then use the gears, use the revs, get it under load - long uphill climbs under full throttle etc etc.

hi mate but would i have to take the actuator off to fix it, un seaze the thing or would i have to take the complete manifold off it just seems a bit tight, but i will try thanks for helping.

That's beyond my knowledge. I am a good theoretical mechanic, rather than a hands on one I was hoping that it might free itself with some generous doses of right foot medicine. I do accept that if it's seized solid then that's not going to work.

THATS OK MATE NEED MORE PEOPLE TO HELP EACH OTHER DON'T WE, AND I WILL BE TRYING TO FREE IT UP THEN FIND SOMEONE TO REMAP MAYBE, IV GOT THE 1.4 HDI BUT THE I IS GREEN OTHERS ARE RED WHAT DO'S IT MEAN, THANKS MATE FOR ALL YOUR HELP.

PSA diesel engines respond well to remapping.
