How to remove the gear knob

if its the same as the golf - which it probably is - lift up the gaiter and you should find a securing clip. cut it off and the knob and gaiter should just pull off

Most gear knobs just twist off. When I changed mine in my Civic I just twisted it until it came off.

VW like to be awkward, the shaft has a groove it it so it cant twist and a o clip (similar to a jubilee clip ) to hold it down. after the gaiter is lifted and the clip cut offitll just pull up and off
