Just read my Gap Insurance terms and conditions...

"The benefit will not be paid for a total loss of the insured vehicle if it has been modified other than in accordance with the manufacturers specifications."

So basically I can't mod my car until August 2012 :(

Bored now. Wanted a cat-back and some more interesting alloys.

Or you ditch this insurer and switch to someone who can cover it.

Sometimes you can get the policy endorsed for "modifications" if they can be percieved as making the car safer. - Bigger brakes for example and a long life stainless steel exhaust which has the same bore size as the OEM one?

Too late. It has done ~ 3100 miles already. Clocked them up really quickly on our holiday. Most gap-insurance policies won't touch them > 500 miles or 105 days old.

Gap insurance is a con. Any good underwriter providing you with comprehensive cover will replace a car less than one year old with a brand new one anyway.
