If, like me you don't like getting your answers from UTube...
When you cast a block, they have to put "cores" in the mold to take up the space where the bore for instance is going to be. The cores keep the metal from flowing into that part of the mold.
They can be moved a bit when the metal comes flowing in, causing the "spot" they were keeping clear to move, maybe making a wall thickness too thin...
Think of the core, floating in the mold, then picture it moving around a bit and you can see the wall thicknesses changing.
