What would it take to have 2 states of tune on a car that gives maximum power and maximum MPG?

Other than just a remap I can't think of much else to change that will help these two aims?

Would it be possible to have a switchable twin turbo setup? Would that give an MPG gain when the second turbo is off?

Right foot is the key. Cannot see any benefit at all in using multiple maps. Performance map driven gently equals economy.

The driver forms part of the map as much as the ECU parameters.

Two separate maps if your ECU allows this (Celtic do a performance and economy map) and WEIGHT.

Still can't see the point. If you're in economy mode and need to overtake a couple of HGVs you have to stop and switch off to load the 'fast' map ! ! !

Just have a performance map and drive gently should achieve the same thing.

When right toe is applied to pedal the ECU moves to a different part of the map anyway!

No, nor can I on a road car, but just trying to answer Waynnes question :)

You wouldn't need to switch between maps to overtake as the power difference would be marginal.

However, on the Elan there will be at least four available:

Drag map
Sprint map
Road map
Other driver map :)

I don't think I will bother with an economy map.
